Moving?

My heart hurts tonight! Matt and Krystle are talking about moving from Alabama to Indiana. We would rarely get to see them and we would miss alot of the baby growing up.I want them to do what is right for them but I really don't want to see them leave.

Christmas!

It's time for the VA Christmas party again. This year its at the VFW in Birmingham. We have lots planned-tons of food-fried turkeys, hams,side dishes and ,of course, lots of desserts. Then we have a band hired and we will also have karaoke for those who can sing-not me!
After we get back from the party, Matt,Krystle and the baby are going to Indiana in our Jeep. We will have Matt's car to go, if we need to go somewhere. They will be gone for 4 daysand are due back next Wednesday.
We've got lots of coupons for portraits so I'm going to get Alexis's picture made for her 3 months old. And I'm hoping for a Santa picture too.
And its only 21 days til the big day and I haven't even started shopping yet. I do know what I'm getting everyone so maybe it won't be too bad.

Thanksgiving

Well it was a little bit different this year. First, Daddy wasn't here (he died in February on my birthday).Second, Krystle and Matt decided to have it at their house. So I was left with making some dessert and some side dishes. We had way too much food there and ended up making plates for tomorrow, as we are too stuffed tonight for any more.Both Matt and Krystle have to work Black Friday and I donn't do the crazy shopping so I will be keeping the baby, Alexis, til they get home.

Scrapbooking Again

I'm trying to get back into scrapping mode as Alexis is here and I need to get her book started before I fall too far behind. I've just signed up for a free class by Jessica Sprague called Inspiration Everywhere. A group of us on Scrap From Your Stash Cybercroppers are planning on taking the class together. Halloween

Well, here in Florence we are celebrating Halloween tonight, the 30th. In the past few hours, we've only had 3 trick-or-treaters. So I'll have leftover Tootsie Rolls for me.LOL!
Went to Matt & Krystle's last night to give them a big bowl of Taco Soup for supper at 9:00pm and ended up staying til 1:15am. We couldn't get Alexis to stay asleep-fed her, changed her, walked with her, held her. She would go to sleep and the minute you laid her in the crib-it was wide awake time.
Hopefully she has slept today so Krystle can get some sleep.

Back Again

Well I've been busy. First I hurt my back somehow and the dr. prescribed therapy 3x a week for 6 weeks.
2 weeks later we left for vacation in Arkansas. Went to Hot Springs, stayed at the Wharf condos (a gift from stepmom-her timeshare). After a week there, went to Fordyce for 2 days to see family. I took the digital camera Daddy left me and definitely am learning with it. Took over 150 pictures.
Now we are back and I'm back in therapy but the back is definitely doing better.still have 3 weeks of therapy to go before I go back to see dr.

Lots has Happened

Well lots has happened since my last post in August. Krystle had her baby-Alexis Rose-born on Sept 9, weighing in at 6 lbs 11 oz and 20-1/2 inches long. So now I'm a grandmother!We got to babysit while Matt & Krystle went out for Krystle's 21st birthday. The baby is beautiful ! Blue eyes and dark hair (that we figure will change color over time)

Find-a-Grave volunteer

I've been doing a bit of my genealogy lately and came upon this website, Find-a-Grave. It has lots of volunteers who will take a request for a grave photo and post it for the person. Well I thought since I've gotten so much help from volunteers out of state that I could spare a bit of my time to do the same for someone else.

Almost Baby !

We almost had a baby Sunday. Krystle was having contractions for several hours Sunday til LD nurse figured out she was dehydrated. They filled her up with fluids and contractions stopped. Ir was a good thing cause she is only 36 weeks. She was told to go home and rest and no work on Monday. She went back to the dr Monday just to make sure everything was okay. We didn't hear from them so I'm assuminng it went well.

Vacation time

Talked to Judy yesterday and she confirmed our week at her timeshare. This year its at The Wharf in Hot Springs, AR.We leave here October 9th and return on the 16th.The Wharf looks great, its 5 star, sits on the shore of Lake Hamilton and is surrounded by the Oachita Mountains. So looking forward to vacation time away from the heat and all the drama.
Hope to get Matt and Krystle to watch the house-feed the cats, get the mail- for the week we'll be gone.

Baby time at my house

Well in order to prepare for Alexis Rose's arrival, Krystle and Matt gave me a bassinet and high chair for my house. But I realized thats not enough. If I go anywhere with her, I must have a reliable car seat and a stroller would be nice. So I got online and checked out several stores. Found the one I liked at walmart online (and they weren't sold in the store), so I ordered them on Monday (2nd), the car seat arrived yesterday (4th) and the stroller arrived today.
I got the stroller put together and it looks great. They are both from the Graco Collection-Betsey so they match each other.
Now Hubby and I are discussing a second vehicle for me-maybe a van-for all the baby stuff! And since he has the wheelchair ramp on the Jeep it makes it difficult to put anything in the cargo area.

Baby Shower is Over !

Well the baby shower is over and Krystle got lots of stuff for the baby. Seems funny though that a lot of her friends and co-workers called or texted her that something came up and they couldn't come. So it was just family that showed. Grandma Judy had a huge bag with lots of gifts inside. Mawmaw Vida and Aunt Ann also came. Krystle had never met them but they got her a housewarming gift and a baby gift. Darlene did too. So, all in all, Matt and Krystle got a lot of nice things.

More about Baby Shower

Well tonight I was watching tv when the doorbell rang. It was Krystle and her mom, Rose. They had been to the Dollar Tree and bought all kinds of stuff for the shower. All the stuff is baby shower items and this is meant to be a housewarming too. Thats why we said "housewarming/baby shower" on all the invites.
I had meant for this thing to be classy but it seems they have other ideas. So I guess I'll have to go along with the party balloons, ice cream with the cake and punch, and streamers hanging all over the room.

Drama ! Drama!

Well, Krystle's mom just has to have her way with lots of drama thrown in too.
I had planned the housewarming/baby shower for Matt & Krystle, got them to pick a day and I found a time that would work with Matt's work schedule. So we tell Rose. She gets huffy saying she can't take a day off, but can take other days off, so what the hey! Well she tells Krystle in no uncertain terms that I am trying to take her place in Krystle's life. Huh, can't help the fact that Matt and Krystle both call us for help since when they call Rose she says she can't help or she promises to help then never shows.
Anyway, Rose had a hissy fit says she won't come to the shower because of me. Krystle talks to her (several phone calls all night long) and they decide to change the times for the shower but to still have it at my house. So I guess I must get ready to deal with more fireworks as I've already planned the event and all the foods.
Can't you tell, even though I'm trying to be nice, it still irks me that this is happening. And she will still get her way!

4th of July

Well we had a really good 4th. We were invited to Juanita and Fred's party. It started about 1 pm and was starting to break up around 7:30 pm when we left. There was lots of food, karaoke, and friends. I took lots of pictures with the professional digital camera Daddy left to me. I'm still trying to get used to it-going to take lots of practice.
Afterwards, I picked up Matt and Krystle to go see the city fireworks display at 9 pm. Then Matt decided to have his own fireworks show-bottle rockets and a tornado alley, which was really noisy.
All in all, had a really fun day!

Catch-up time

Well its been 2 years since I updated my blog. So much has happened.
My Dad died on my 53rd birthday-Feb 14 2010. I moved into his house for the last month of his life and took care of him.He had cancer so it was a long battle.
My kids have both moved out and are living close by, here in town. My youngest son, Matthew has a new girlfriend and they've been living together for 2 years. They are expecting my 1st grandchild, a girl, in September.
Tony, the oldest, is living with his girlfriend also. Right now , he is gone to summer camp with the National Guard.His girlfriend refuses to stay in the house alone for the 2 weeks so she moved back in with her mom til he gets back next weekend.
